Set it up#
Choose the correct method
PayPal and PayPal Friends & Family are separate methods with different setup and verification requirements.
Follow the setup panel
Open the PayPal method in payment settings and follow the account and callback instructions shown there.
Review IPN instructions when applicable
If your method requires IPN, configure the exact notification URL shown by the dashboard. Do not substitute a storefront URL.
Verify with an order
Check the receiving account, the payment record, and the platform order status after completing the transaction.
Callbacks and confirmation#
A successful redirect back to checkout does not confirm settlement by itself. The platform must receive the provider notification or verify the payment through the configured integration.
Separate account settings#
Credentials and setup instructions for standard PayPal checkout are not interchangeable with the Friends & Family flow. Follow the instructions for the exact method you enabled.
If something does not work#
What to check
If a transaction exists in PayPal but an order is unpaid, verify the receiving account and notification configuration. Include the order and provider transaction references when contacting support; never share API secrets.
