Connect SumUp

Take card payments on a SumUp hosted checkout.

Set it up#

Create a secret API key

In your SumUp account, open Settings → For Developers → Toolkit → API Keys and create a key. It is shown only once, so copy it straight away.

Find your merchant code

Your merchant code (for example MCXXXXXX) is shown in your SumUp profile.

Connect in the dashboard

In the dashboard, open Payments → Payment setup. Choose SumUp, paste the key and merchant code and select Connect.

Test with a sandbox merchant

Create a sandbox merchant under Developer Settings → Sandboxes and pay with Visa 4200 0000 0000 0091. An amount of 11 always fails.

Supported currencies#

SumUp supports BRL, CHF, CLP, COP, CZK, DKK, EUR, GBP, HUF, NOK, PLN, RON, SEK and USD. Set your store currency to one your SumUp account accepts.

Checkout timing#

A SumUp checkout lasts 30 minutes. A buyer who waits longer has to start checkout again.

If something does not work#

What to check

If Connect fails, check that the key is a secret key and the merchant code belongs to the same account. If payments fail, compare the store currency with your SumUp account currency.
